Chan, Henry Henry has been a fellow of the Asian Public Intellectuals since 2001. Amongst others, he does applied research on conflict resolution involving disputes between the state and the communities, and conflicts within and between communities pertaining to competition over forest resources. Currently, he heads the Department of Social and Community Studies at Sarawak Forestry Corporation. He is finalizing his Ph. D dissertation which has been accepted for submission to the University of Helsinki, Finland.

Cheng Ming Yu Cheng Ming Yu graduated from University Putra Malaysia with a Ph.D. in Economics in 1999. She is currently the Associate Dean in Faculty of Management, at MMU’s Cyberjaya campus. Since 2001, she works as the Global Virtual Lecturer at Fairleigh Dickinson University, USA. In addition, she was the visiting Lecturer at the Graduate School of Business, University of Newcastle, Australia in 2002. From September 2004 to May 2005, she was the Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Washington State University, USA. And she is currently working on research related to social capital on economic development in the developing countries.

Ghosh, DukeDuke Ghosh is an Indian Citizen. Since 2005, he is a SYLFF Fellow at the Jadavpur University (JU), India. Currently pursuing his Ph.D. and his research area is the development of Small & Medium Enterprises in India. He has a M.A. in Economics from Jadavpur University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He has professional experience of 9 years – working for Exide Industries Limited and UTI Bank Limited. He is also a member of the executive committee of “Neev Foundadtion” – a non-profit organization working for the cause of education and health of poor children in West Bengal.

Gui YongtaoGui Yongtao is a citizen of PRC. He is currently an assistant professor at the School of International Studies of Peking University. He was enrolled in a joint doctoral degree program sponsored by the Nippon Foundation in 2001 and received his Ph.D. in International Relations from both Waseda University and Peking University in 2005. His research subjects include American-East Asian relations and Asian nationalism. He currently teaches Comparative Politics and Sino-Japanese Relations at his school.

Hall, Rosalie Arcala Rosalie Arcala Hall is a Filipino citizen. She is an Associate Professor in Political Science at the University of the Philippines in the Visayas in Miagao, Iloilo, where she has been connected since 1991. She teaches Research Methods, International Relations, Comparative Western Politics, and Social, Economic and Political Theory to undergraduate students. She earned her doctorate degree in Public and International Affairs from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA in 2002, under a Fulbright scholarship. She conducted research in Japan on the changing roles and function of the Self Defense Forces in 2004-2005 under a grant from the Asian Public Intellectual program.

Kim EuysungEuysung Kim is a Korean citizen. He is currently associate professor at Graduate School of International Studies, Yonsei University, Korea. He graduated from Dartmouth College with B.A. in Economics and received a Ph.D. in Economic from Columbia University in 1996. He is a specialist on trade theory, economic growth, and Korean development. His recent publications include Economic Crisis and Corporate Restructuring in Korea (co-edited, Cambridge University Press, 2003) and “The Impact of Family Ownership and Capital Structures on Productivity Performance of Korean Manufacturing Firms: Corporate Governance and the ‘Chaebol Problem’”, Journal of the Japanese and International Economies (2006).

Nguyen, Tran Vu Tran Vu Nguyen is a Vietnamese citizen. He has graduated from Journalism School of Vietnam National University. Two year upon his graduation, Nguyen Tran spent 1 year for professional training in International Institute of Journalism, Germany. During his career as a journalist, Nguyen Tran received a number of awards, nationally and internationally. He was also a correspondent in 2004 at Indonesia during the historic tsunami. In the conference, he was seemingly the youngest attendant. Nevertheless, Nguyen Tran was very confident, smart, active and amusing. This funny guy will bring a lot of refreshing breeze to us.

Ou DongshuDongshu Ou is from China. She is currently working on her PhD in Economics and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research interests are using economics and quantitative methods on education policy analysis, including education and economic development. She has gained extensive research experience at Teachers College, the Ford Foundation, and New Visions for Public Schools. She was awarded SYLFF fellowship in 2004 and 2005 for her work at UNICEF in Laos. She obtained her B.A. from Sun Yat-sen University in 2002 and a M.A. from Columbia University in 2004.
